Through our Survivor/Family
Helpline, email or other written communication we can answer
your basic questions about brain injury
and offer an empathetic ear to listen to your concerns.
We can send you
information of interest to you. You may select from our extensive
library of articles, books and videos, on a wide range of
topics including behavior, cognition, coma, education, family
issues, substance abuse, rehabilitation, employment, and mild brain
injury. You may also request specific information not listed in our
library index.
We can direct you
to important resources that may be
available to you and facilitate your recovery such as adult family
homes/assisted living/nursing facilities, rehabilitation programs,
alternative medicine practitioners, attorneys, neuropsychologists,
and vocational counselors.
We can link you to one of the
support groups that meet throughout
the state. These support groups provide first hand information
and a level of emotional understanding that can only come from those
who have lived through the same life altering experience. They also
provide a safe haven in which frustrations and feelings can be
expressed and validated, and new coping strategies learned.
